If this is the model 'Skutt' I used to have, (
deep surrounding cast Aluminum Tub, little
spindley Angle Iron legs) the Speed Control 'Foot
Pedal' indeed was a slender Rope that went from
the Cast Aluminum on-the-floor foot Pedal to a
little pulley in the side of the large cast
Aluminum Body of the Wheel, and led to some levers
and belt pullys for speed controll.
This is the only Wheel I have so far owned, ( I
traded a Brass Handle Trimming Tool, for it in
1988 or so, when it was at a Clay supplier from
some buy they had made of a bunch of newer Wheels
and no one, I mean no one, wanted it...) and some
time ago, a year ago maybe, I sold it to a Los
Angeles Potter who reported back to me of being
very happy with it and useing the heck out of it.
I was happy with it too, in my time of having
it..!
It did not lack for torque, it was friendly, and,
was smooth, and...it turned nicely..!
Top speed was a sensible 'slowish'...
Anyway...
What fun...
I may be getting a purportedly 'early' Shimpo
soon...we shall see...I have not seen it yet but
it's owner is intending to bring it to town next
month.
I am supposed to be getting RID of stuff, not
dragging more stuff home!
That darned 'enceeeeeky' got me all inspired about
making Pots now...about ;icking up where I left
off anyway, like I did not have enough to do
already!
...sheeeeesh!
Lol...
