Capt; Talk to your refractory agent. We used a high alumina castable for the
throat arch of our train. After 25 firings it is starting to look like it's
actually fluxing. It does take a beating up there. I tried making a castable
out of Studio Potter ( an American named Leach I think formula). One salting
and the kiln went to way of the doo doo bird. hard lesson some 25 years
back.
the commmercial stuff ain't cheap but you'll sleep at night. Important for a
newly wed.
Cheers,
Tony
