Hi Carol,

Lol...

Yes...I made a couple of little Tungsten Carbide
'Golf
Club' ended Tools for her about ten or twelve
years ago...maybe more, as I recall it to have
been just after the 1993 San Diego 'Nceca'...so,
more like 13 years ago.

This may be what was being refered to, or, if not,
then who knows.

Anyway, I can and do make just about any sort of
sharp
little Carving or scrapeing end-shapes, especially
if needed
in small to tiny
flat or bent 'solid' forms...

...and various small profiles or little 'L's or
Hooks
or Blades ( as opposed to
e-x-t-r-e-m-e-l-y tiny Loops or
Scorps to which my material is unsuited) and, of
course I fit
these to
any of my various Handles
to suit the Hand and allow some comfort in their
prolongued use.

These are in these instances, small or
tiny ended kinds of Tools, whose scale lets them
be especially suited for making small or miniature
Bas Reliefs in
far Leather Hard or dry non-grogged Clay in ways
where a sharp Tool may be wanted,
or, for doing such in low Bisque similarly, and
where the Dental
Tools would
tend to wear out soon and or dull to round
rapidly...and or for which Dental Tools as such
tend to lack suitable ends anyway...to say nothing
of their discomfort in use from their cold
thin-ness
overall.

Too, I make various widths of Sgraffito Tools for
drawing lines
through Glaze on Bisque.

I brought a good handfull of the little Sgraffito
Drawing or 'Line' Tools to the 'Nceca', but I had
not anticipated the extent of interest they would
find, and so I ran out the morning of the second
day, ( having I think one left at that time out of
eighteen or so brought, ) obligeing those wanting
them from then on, to
order them at liesure instead of getting them from
me there...if they even know I made them at all,
to
do so...

Next time I will bring more...

Lol...

Best wishes!

Thanks to all for dental tool advice. I can't wait to see the look on my
dentist's face when I ask for her old tools.

At Tom Coleman's workshop, he mentioned that his wife used a carving tool
that was shaped like a small golf club. I am still trying to picture that
one. Did you make it for her, Phil?

Carol,
At the Gem Show here in Tucson I spent hours at the
Kent's Tools booth. I bought many tools that I am using for carving.
They have a web site....
www.kentstools.com have them send you a free catalog.

I planned to get a sgraffito tool from Phil at NCECA but he had already sold
out of them by the time I arrived at his booth.

Gayle Bair - came home from a wonderful Clayart/NCECA experience with the
krud. I will write about my expereince when I can write coherently.
