Hello all,
Many of you already saw the Cone Box show at NCECA. I had to wait
for the official opening at Baker University, which took place
Tuesday night. WOW! Every year I am so impressed with the show.
The quality, and breadth of work is always outstanding. And I
always spend more than I intend to because there are always 2 or 3
pieces I just can't live without. This year, I purchased Belze Bub
by Wally Asselberghs. (Wally's other piece, by the way, received a
purchase award). Wally, I've seen your postings to clayart. It was
nice to finally see your work in person. Of the "purchaseable"
pieces, I think Belze Bub was the top standout in the show. It
called my name and said "Cindy, you MUST take me home!" I had to
talk Inge into letting me buy it. She was planning on getting it
herself, but Inge is always so giving that she let me get it. I also
bought a really cool piece by Mika Laidlaw (formerly Negishi and an
emerging artist at NCECA 2 years ago I think) It was actually the
first piece I saw as I peered in through the still locked door of the
gallery (We arrived about 30minutes early). I couldn't stop thinking
about it, even after I had already decided on Belze Bub for my
purchase. Fortunately, my husband's a softy and he said, I could get
them both. Then, just before I left, I was remarking about a piece
that I thought had received a purchase award, and therefore was not
for sale to the public. Inge was standing nearby and overheard me
and informed me that it was available. So bang, there was my 3rd
piece - a beautiful celedon "Cuke Box" by Peggy Fowler from
Maryland. What a wonderful night. Congratulations to all of you who
got into the Cone Box Show. It gives me immeasurable joy to see the
show that my dad started, now in the very capable hands of Inge Balch
thrive and grow.
Sincerely,
Cindy Bracker

You are such a great person. Thanks for doing that! :-)
I have had several not so happy people because they did not make the cut
and want their pieces back RIGHT NOW! I have to let them know that I
have 400 to pack and ship, but they will get it as soon as possible. I
wonder at times over professionalism in the field.

Love,
Inge Thanks for coming!
