Greetings All ---Hi Kris---you wrote
"have you guys noticed little black specs???"
B-mix is not a porcelain, it's a stoneware and was not designed to be pure
white or totally speckless. It has a lot of Ball clay and a lot of
Bentonite, neither of which is particularly white, especially the bentonite
which is volcanic in origin, dark gray in color and will have some pretty
fair sized specks in it from time to time.
The specking is not something new, though it does come and go. I tend to see
it a lot more often because I'm QA ing 300-500 tons of B-mix every month.
If you want a related type of body that is white and is a Porcelain, try
Dave's Porcelain. Or if you want a special ton of B-mix made with white
bentonite ---I can arrange that for you. Please contact me off list
