I have received several e-mails from curious/concerned/suspicious Clay=
Arters asking me about the gallery currently requesting (via CLAYART and=
directly/personally off-line) for cups and saucers, so thought I would=
reply on-line to save time (I am currently only getting out of bed when=
necessary plus once per evening to pick up my daily dose of Clay plus any=
other mail). I am afraid I have never heard about either the people or the=
gallery concerned. That does not mean much because it is some distance=
away from us and I have neither family nor friends in Warwickshire to send=
on a recce.

So in the absence of any information at this time, I advise the same thing=
here-and-now, as for all requests received by e-mail... Use your common=
sense about the risks vs. any gains which are involved and take it from=
there. "Caution is the mother of the box of porcelain", as Himself would=
say (only in German! LOL!)

I have no wish to rain on their parade, but I *personally* would say they=
are not only mad to propose such a potentially massive undertaking for a=
mere week-long exhibition, but are very naive to ask for submissions in=
this way for a whole number of other reasons which may affect their=
commercial as well as their mental health... When I think of a potentially=
massive tax bill (import duty) on an UNKNOWN number of submissions, I go=
quite faint at the thought!!!

My lively inner eye on the one hand conjurs up images of a tythe-barn=
chocka-block with cups and saucers vs a totally empty gallery with a=
single cup and saucer perched on a pedestal on the other... The two comic=
extremes of not being able to tell just how many submissions will arrive=
over the next few weeks. What a hoot!

Janet Kaiser -- back from a month in Germany inc. a visit over the border=
to Aabenraa/Apenrade to visit Alisa C. Hope you did not develop this awful=
infection, Alisa?! It could be bird flu for all we know, but I am keeping=
away from the quacks (both human and avian) so less chance of spreading it=
around.
