Fred, I dont profess to be an expert on Barium mattes.... BUT from what I can see in your test tiles the main issue is thickness. When testing any glaze I like to see a whole range of thickness from wicked think to so thick it moves! Then I can see the whole gamut. It would seem that with experience one would know the right viscocity for testing, but I keep on testing this way....now and again when a glaze goes on the fritz, a quick look back at the test tiles will tell me most of what I need to know.
