Hello all;

This is a second resend. The first two disappeared.

Re: Earthenware temp: 1140C
(+ holding at med for 30 mins)

Further to my maiolica query. I have picked out some
'maiolica' tin glazes for testing. While we are
waiting for some materials to arrive, I have plotted
a graph to see the Al:Si positions. Then I realised I
don't have a 'best melt' area. Does anybody know of
this? Or this is something I have to make a grid of
with my own clay and materials chosen? I think Mike
Bailey works this way.

The plotted graph is here:

Please click: 'Maiolica Glaze Test' set.

There's also the unity comparison chart in Excel, if
you like that sort of things. Please feel free to
comment on the analysis.

Many thanks

P.S.: In addition to Lee and Kathy's link, Linda
Arbuckle kindly sent me her stash of maiolica glaze
collection. Unfortunately, a lot of the recipes call
for Ferro Frits. They are US imports and they cost
double than local frits.Trying to be cheap and green,
I need to buy local. I
did 'translate' 2 recipes into local materials. We'll
do one with Ferro 3124 and one version with local
frits.
