I got a small Artista wheel at NCECA to try it out for setting up a
small studio classroom at my studio.
One of my co-op partners saw it and got one immediately.
He has arthritis in his hips and had given up throwing because he
couldn't straddle the wheel due to pain. He loves it.
He is throwing again. The wheel is very portable. It weighs 25 lbs.
Good speed variation too.
The little Artista is a table top wheel. It can handle up to 25
pounds. I love it. I have a Bailey wheel for most throwing,
but this Artista sells for about $330. I think it will be great for
students. It is fun for me to use for multiples: bowls, mugs, saucers.
I have the North Star square bat insets, The Artista uses standard
bat pegs.
