...exhibit opened Friday night, April 21, in Lancaster, PA,=20
and it's excellent. Tom Coleman was the juror, and he also
gave a two-day lecture-demonstration that was wonderful.

The opening was a grand success, thanks to clayarter Jean
Lehman and Phil Haralam, co-directors. The show will be=20
open through May 21 at the Market House Craft Center on
Vine and Queen Streets in Lancaster. More than 363 artists
from 43 submitted 1,018 slides, from which Tom chose 105=20
pots. At least one clayarter -- Nan Coffin -- has a
(beautiful) piece in the show. You can catch a glimpse of
the show at www.strictlyfunctionalpotterynational.net
-- but go see it if you can.

Tom's workshop was at Kevin Lehman's Pottery at
560 S. Prince St. in Lancaster. It's a perfect facility
for making, firing, showing and teaching ceramic arts.
Kevin was a fantastic workshop host, with the help of=20
potters Phil Kreider and Phil Haralam, who also make and
show their pots there.

Hi Lois,

Funny: I was there as well and signed the guestbook almost (skip one) below you. Had I only known that you were there!
It WAS a wonderful exhibit. Style, texture, suggested or obvious use, glazes, design - all wonderful. I enjoyed Tom's pieces immensely and was quite envious of the person who bought the blue container. Jackie Miller had a darling porcelain bowl in it as well. I actually saw her make it at Alfred last summer. So dainty.

In spite of all the rain I am glad I drove down there. The variety chosen (and with that great respect for the juror(s) was marvelous. One learns so much just by looking. And touching. Hmm-I do still get into a bit of trouble over that from time to time...
Hope to see you around for another show - come and visit.

Stay "in touch", in other words. A great piece of advice to potters!
Marianne

Glad to hear the opening/demos went well. Proud to have a pot in for the
first time this year. (Gotta blow your own horn once in awhile :-). Would
have loved to meet Tom, but couldn't make it down. Happy to see good reviews
on Clayart.
