Hi all,

I've heard that there is a big teapot show or symposium coming to Kalamazoo, Michigan this month. Does anyone know the details and dates of this event?

Thanks so much
Candice

Here is the announcement that was listed on clayart some time back:

The Art of the Teapot

The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts in Kalamazoo, MI is pleased to
present "Tea Time: The Art of the Teapot," a national invitational
exhibition of 150 contemporary teapots from May 13 to July 16, 2006. From
the serene and elegant to the playful and eccentric, the teapot is
highlighted as both a functional object and an artistically inventive
form. Some of the exhibitors include Pete Pinnell, Suze Lindsey, Chuck
Hindes, John Britt, Brad Schweiger, Eva Kwong, Vince Pitelka, Mel
Jacobson, Chris Gustin, Josh DeWeese, Linda Christianson, Malcolm Davis,
many others.

To celebrate the opening of this show, a weekend workshop/symposium will
be held May 12-14, 2006. Richard Bresnahan, Fong Choo, Jeri Hollister and
Bennett Bean will be on hand to discuss and demonstate their philosophy
and unique production techniques. Exhibition preview and slide show by
each presenter on Friday evening, May 12. Demonstrations Saturday and
Sunday, May 13 & 14.

Registration for the workshop is $100. For more information or to
register, call the KIA at 269-349-7775, ext. 3101 business hours, ext.

Hi Candace,

The Teapot workshop at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts is next weekend May
12-14. A few spaces are open, but they are filling, so register soon.

Richard Bresnahan had to withdraw from the workshop just yesterday, due to
a family emergency. But, the KIA was able to secure Chuck Hindes from the
University of Iowa to take his place. Chuck is highly regarded
internationally for his woodfired ceramics. He will be a great addition to
the workshop.

For more information on the workshop presenters, check out the following
sites:

The teapot exhibition opens to the public at 5:30 Friday evening during the
KIA's "Art & All That Jazz" series, and runs through mid-July. The teapots
arriving are just stunning, so it will be a fabulous show! Don't miss it!
