There are still some spaces available in this summer's workshops.

First session - June 11-17

Leah Leitson - Responding to Touch: Thrown and Altered Vessels.
This class will focus on the expressive quality of the pouring vessel.
Working with porcelain, participants will manipulate the form of freshly
thrown pots and explore the possibilities involved in making teapots,
pitchers, creamers, and cruets using wheel thrown and combined parts. Leah
will demonstrate the techniques she uses in making handles, spouts, and
lids.

JoAnn Schnabel - Carved Tiles for the Wall.
JoAnn will teach participants how to make decorative ceramic tiles.
Participants will explore working with a wide variety of carved textures an=
d
imagery to create their own works of art. Projects will include working on
individual decorative tiles, as well as using tiles together to create a
wall mural. Using red low-fire clay and terra sigilatta pieces will be
burnished and fired so that participants may leave with finished tiles.

Second Session - June 18-24

Sam Chung - Glazing the Pottery Form
In this class Sam will address glazing in a way that is specific to each
pottery shape, including the use of resists (wax, latex, and tape).
Participants will bring their own bisque ware (must be clay appropriate for
a cone ten firing) to be glazed and fired in both reduction and soda/salt
kilns. During the firing and cooling days Sam will focus on the design of
the pitcher form.=20
