Houston — The MFAH´s Glassell School of Art will showcase student work
selected by a jury of faculty members at the Annual Student Exhibition 2006,
May 19 through July 25. Works in all media representing all areas of the
curriculum will be exhibited in the Laura Lee Blanton Gallery at the
Glassell School, 5101 Montrose Boulevard, open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The public is invited to attend the opening reception on Friday, May 19,
from 5 to 8 p.m.
Student Sale
The Student Spring Sale at the Glassell School of Art also will open on May
19. Hundreds of works in two- and three-dimensional media will be for sale,
including ceramics, jewelry, prints, drawings, paintings, photographs, and
sculpture. Sale hours are 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 19; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday,
May 20; and noon-5 p.m. Sunday, May 21.
The student sale, now in its 17th year, began with a proposal to show work
by advanced jewelry students and was expanded to include work from all
students. The event was soon combined with the Studio School Student
Exhibition. Some of the proceeds from the sale support Studio School
scholarships and installation of the student exhibition.
