seeking advice for selling kiln

Hello,

A friend has asked me to help her sell her kiln, and I am wondering how much
a used kiln would be expected to sell for. I realize that it depends on a
lot of factors, but I have no clue as to these things and am hoping that you
might be willing to give me a reasonable ballpark of about where a fair
price would be.

The kiln is a Crusader-Brent, model 215-S (cone 10s series), 17.5"W x 18"D,
2.63 cubic feet, 25 Amp, 6000 Watt, with a Kiln Sitter model LT-3 and a
couple of shelves. The kiln was purchased new about 15 years ago and used
for porcelain dolls; she used it for maybe two or three dozen loads, and it
is has been well taken care of.

Here is a page with some pictures I put up; there is one small area of
damage as shown in picture five:

With this in mind, what would be a reasonable value to consider for this
kiln (I would offer local delivery)? Also, would it be good to list this on
ebay for local buyers, or another venue perhaps?

Thanks,

Jon

Hi Jon,
This kiln new from Skutt or L&L is around $700.00 to $800.00. I saw the pictures on your web link and the kiln apears to be in good shape although an interior shot would be helpful. I would say you could start between $450.00 and $500.00. This is a high range but still a fair price to pay for this kiln. If it doesn't sell in a couple of weeks lower the price to the $350.00 range and remember to sell the kiln "AS IS" and OBO (Or best offer)
Good luck with the sale.

Thank you Les, I appreciate this information. BTW, I should have mentioned
the kiln is in Eugene, OR; if anyone has any ideas of where I might make the
kiln be known at.

Thanks,

Jon
