Kiln Woes
So, here's the story. I have an Alpine (updraft) kiln available to me =
*free
for the taking. The kiln is very old, forced air burners/blowers, doors
blown off, roof sagging, some spalling inside (soft brick), and you =
guessed
it, I can get it to fire like a charm. I learned to fire manually with
this particular kiln and have been working with it for many years. =
Here's
the catch, it will cost *$950.00 just to move it. I won't know until =
its
moved how it will survive the move and I have no idea about the gas
consumption for this big old leaky beast. Would I be better off letting
this one go to the dump and building a new kiln, any estimates on how =
far
into building a new fire box that $950.00 would take me. I have =
pictures
if anyone would like to see.
All chimers welcome.
I do love this old girl and it's hard to think of letting go. E mail me =
a
phone # off list and I'll call if someone is willing to discuss.
