i added a picture of clayart friend david mcbeth at hay creek.
clayart page.
david is working on a sabbatical project of visiting potteries and potters
that he has wanted to study and fire with. he asked to spend
some `quality, alone` time at our farm.
i joined him the past few days and we fired two kilns with the
jian/chinese glazes and he loaded one full kiln of stoneware/in
our salt kiln.
he was/is one happy boy.
both firings of the chinese completed in about 4+ hours.
cone 13. they were perfect.
we down fired about an hour + at 1900F
he had almost 100 percent bright iron red/to black haresfur and
gold on everyone. the gold leaf/crystals were covering
most all the pots.
the big salt kiln fired in about 6 hours.
we used about 5 percent of 70 percent of a 500 gallon tank.
not more than 45 dollars worth. three firings.
he was a bit impressed.
david is one of the fine human beings teaching.
a college professor of ceramics at the university of tennessee/martin.
i am very proud to count him as a fine friend.
