one of the best systems i have ever seen, used
is kaowool soaked in itc.
them rammed into the crack.

if you just ram in kiln patch, or some other
material it seems to work out and fall out.

i have stuck plain kaowool in cracks for years.
it just stays there.

take a small piece, open it up, roll it in your
hands and then place it in the crack. if you want,
paint the crack first with itc 100 then add the kaowool,
then paint the kaowool.
all three systems work well.

it has to do with the flex of the kaowool in the crack.
any material that hardens, will separate.
like putting a handle on a dry mug. shrinks.

of course, i have had cracks in my electric kilns for
40 years...who cares?
