Hi people, In the land of OZ and looking for a porcelain clay body to fire
at cone 6.
If purchasing isn't an option due to avalability, a body recipe(one that
someone has used and knows is ok) to start testing with is appreciated. I
have never(except bisque) fired a kiln under cone 9 so am starting a new
journey.

I use Standard #551. Throws great, glazes beautifully, it's
translucent, but if you handbuild it can warp.

By land of OZ, do you mean Kansas?

Clayworks, the makers of Southern Ice (1280-1305C) also make a Cone 6
porcelain called Cool Ice (1180-1240C).
Pottery Supplies has it in both their locations, Qld 07 3368 2877 & NSW
02 8756 5900.
Give them a call.

Do you know if Cool Ice is the same as what Laguna is calling Frost? I have
enjoyed using Southern Ice although a bit "rubbery" to throw when you want
to stretch out the piece. Frost threw beautifully. It was much easier to
throw than Southern Ice, but my hopes for it dimmed when I found it cracking
terribly while it dried. Jackie, jqamiller@aol.com
