Well, it's certainly pretty. Details on the page would be nice, though
- is it a kit? Plans? Pre-constructed? How much? By the way, your
"Potter" link from there is broken.

Hi Clayarters,

I apologize for suggesting to Bruce and to Clayart in general that one could
figure everything out about how to make the inexpensive treadle wheel shown
on Harold Miller's website: http://www.shigaraki-pottery.com/wheel.html .
Maybe it would not be difficult to figure out how to build the frame, but
how to attach the kickbar to the shaft and the shaft to the flywheel in a
functional way is not visible.

However, I can redeem myself by supplying the url for potter Lloyd Cledwyn
aka Lloyd Lentz's website, where you can find several sizes and types of
images of plans for the original Leach treadle wheel, including a full-size
original blueprint, as well as extrapolations from this, viewed from from
the top and from the side.

Anyway, here's the url: http://www.llpots.com/ (click on "Treadle")

Not everyone will be able to follow blueprints (I can't, at least not well
enough to take on such a project), but if you can, then it's a good start,
although there's still the question of parts, since the parts list given is
for British readers.

This next url has some assembly photos of the version manufactured by Mark
Polglase of Great River Woodworks (formerly Waves of Grain) in Scandia, MN:
http://www.negentropic.com/clay/process/treadlewheel.shtml (Thanks to
Scott Cooper of Fillmore, Indiana)

For someone who would prefer to purchase either a custom made or a
manufactured Leach wheel in the USA, here's a sophisticated offset shaft
design made by Douglas Gates of Chapel Hill, NC:
http://www.treadlewheels.com/

Edmunds Design & Manufacturing in Duluth, MN:
http://www.edmfg.com/treadle_wheels/

Treadle Wheels by Billy Martin of Greensboro, NC:
http://www.cclay.com/bmartin/

By the way, Lloyd gives contact details for Polglase, Gates, Edmunds and
Martin on his treadle resources page.

Sincerely, Helen
Belleville, ON
(Don't forget to use the AntiSPAM hint at the top of the post.)
