Many thanks to everyone who sent advice. Spent the day thinking about what was said. Had to shut off my computer-spending too much time looking at kiln pics and what other people had done. Finally did get some work done. Now the hard work starts-driving back and forth to Whitehorse (200 k round trip) fetching my new babies.

Hank, that is a great idea about the kiln size. Will be a good starting point. Paul, will spend some on those books. Pottermim-tried to email you a couple of times to send thanks for sending that link but it bounced, so Thank you! And Vince-I did see some marks on  a couple of the red bricks. I was so cold when I finally bought those guys all I wanted to do was go home, tomorrow will take a closer look. It was so many years ago that they took that boiler apart no one remembers what was where (I asked). Looking forward to seeing them stacked by my shop.

Thanks again everyone, Claudia MacPhee  Tagish, Yukon where it is finally turning green and another sign of Spring, bears all over, saw two coming home from school on thurday, big black guys

Claudia,

One thing I don't remember seeing anyone write you about is that you =20
will want to have your bricks covered up and raised up on some sort of =20=

pallet when you stack them next to your studio. Nothing worse than a =20
brick that is wet and when fired crumbles rapidly.
