Hi,

This is somewhat off topic, but since we will be searching out potteries
on our treak, sorta not.

Does anyone on know if there is direct public transportation from Gatwick
airport, England to Dover where one either ferries or takes the Chunnel to
Calaise, France? I don`t want to back-track to London to the big train
station there if we don`t have to.
I can`t seem to get much from Google on this one.
Thanks for any help.
Lela, falling asleep on the prairie.

shows a direct rail to Dover from London.

I took the Sallie to France, was an interesting trip. It would be fun to take the chunnel one way and the Sallie the other. Just a thought.

Hello Lela,

I have done a quick Google ['gatwick to Eurostar'and Gatwick to Waterloo'=
]=20
and found some links that may [or may not] be useful. These searches are=20
worth looking into further - perhaps try google.co.uk

We have a bonkers transport system - I blame Thatcher but that is a=20
different thread:-) - the first link concerns rail passes but has some go=
od=20
info, the others are sites that I have not ventured into as life is far t=
oo=20
short - I wish you the very best of luck,

regards,

Hi Kathy,
What is the `Sallie`? Ferry? The chunnel is far more expensive than the
ferry.
We`ll do mini chunnels in Denmark.
Thanks, Lela

Another thought - the cheapest way now across the Channel is Speed Ferries:
www.speedferries.co.uk
They are trying to be the 'cheap flights' of the channel business - I have
used them the last three times - but you end up in Boulogne rather than
Calias,

Hi Alistair,

I will check out the site, but we pick up our rental car in Calais.
We are trying to keep things as simple as possible...it`s sort of
working...
Thank you very much for taking the time.
Best wishes from Lela on the Canadian prairie were it`s probably going to
rain all over our first annual art festival.

Yep Lela, it's the ferry. Fun ride! Ah dover, love those white cliffs, and watching them go out of site will be even more spectacular. Have a great trip.

Take your motion sickness medication with you
just in case ... I have never had a calm trip across
and it can get interesting !! Even my "never gets
seasick" hubby has had his moments.

Chris Campbell - in North Carolina - I think I would
like to do the chunnel once just to say I did ...
