There is another possibility that you may have overlooked - Mel may be
giving us the best information he can - he may not know the Pinyin spelling.

Mel,
Please...please try to use Pinyin for spelling Mandarin words.
Your soundings just don't work. It is confusing.
I tried to translate those sounds into Pinyin and then googled it in various
and generous possibilities. I speak Chinese and I can't figure out where is
eee che jin.

Pinyin is a phonetic system--literally: join sounds.
It uses a roman alphabet and linguistic standards.
It was taught in Mandarin classes in the early seventies and was
becoming widespread when I was in China 30 years ago. Approved in
1958, the government of the People's Republic of China adopted it
officially in 1979 and has been accepted by the Library of Congress, etc.

You and most on this list make an effort to spell Japanese words correctly and respectfully.
Imagine referring to shi ga rock eee. Just confusing.
You can help to engender respect for the Chinese and Chinese culture and clarity by
making the effort to learn to spell a few sounds or place names if you are going
to use them.
If you need help, just ask.
There are plenty of Chinese speakers who can spell in Pinyin on this list.

As a long time friend of China and the Chinese people, this pushes my buttons.
Best,
Judith
