Arthritis hit me about 5 years ago. The first doctor I went to put me on
pain medication and it did nothing but dull the feeling of a knife grinding
into my thumb joint. I then spoke to a friend who is a leading doctor in
autoimmune disorder. He told me his story of Glucosamine. He had been
asked to be interviewed on the topic (as the expert who would of course
speak up against this non-medical cure) for a TV show. He had never heard
of the supplement until then so he went out and did a thorough job of
researching it. He found that it had been used for a very long time to
treat dogs, horses and other animals and that Europe had done human test
trials as well. The TV production probably wasn=92t thrilled because they
like to show conflict of opinions but he came out in support of it. He
recommended that I try it and I did. I can=92t tell you how great it works.=

The only problem I have is that I forget I have arthritis and forget to take=

the supplement until I feel a slight bit of pain. I do not use the
glucosamine/chondroitin mix. I don=92t believe the chondroitin does anythin=

and it cuts down on the amount of glucosamine you are getting. It takes at
least a few weeks for the supplement to build the cartilage back up enough
to eliminate the pain. It is not pain medication so do not expect instant
relief. Rather than mask the symptom though it works to repair the damage
done.

Having had a bit of a bout with some hip arthritis, ask TonyC how I was
doing last feb in San Antonio, I ran into a retired orthopedic surgeon also
a customer and he went into great length about the benefits of Glucosamine
and MSM. He said most of the studies that poo-poo it ran dosages that were
too low. He also stressed the importance of stress as a factor. Later I
ran into this show on public Radio.

Esther Sternberg apparently has done quite a bit of research on this.
