I was told by another potter to just go to the local precinct and ask if any
scales were available for pottery. I did, and was offered one. It turned out
to be defective so I went back and asked again and was given a, like new,
triple beam Ohaus. The department is happy to pass on confiscated scales to
be used for a legal purpose and it makes great public relations to
generously give away the scales. I offered to make a mug for the stock room
officer that helped me out. linda/OH

Nice! When I lived in Albuquerque, the
demand for scales was so high that even
at police auctions they cost $100 or
more.

boy did you luck out. Here where I am in Md the local and state police
tend to destroy them as opposed to selling them. unless of course
someone else in the state knows a county where they do sell them.
