Rest easy , Gayle. It is hand built porcelain jewelry pieces ...However
I did get this from the Mile High Ceramics website AND the Duncan website
:" . Health and safety precautions apply while working with this glaze, it
is food safe when fired properly to witness cone 06 "... ( Im firing to 05
or 04 on bisque and up to cone 6 when once -firing ) . So now Im
confused. If a glaze manufacturer ( who would have serious liability
issues) says that a glaze is food safe if fired properly , are they full
of it? Or IS this stuff food safe?( assuming proper firing)
I d like to thank everyone who made suggestions on the topic... Im
getting a new batch ready for the kiln and will try the slower firing
schedule.... Id especially like to thank Kelley Wilks of Flat Rock Clay
who let me call her yesterday and walked me through her firing schedule...

Marci,
They are full of it! Unfortunately because of the
antiquated standards they may claim it is food safe.
According to Monona Rossol and the over the counter Lead
test Kit it is not.... guess who I trust?
If you want more info on the previous thread which documented
my issue with using lead glazes go to
http://www.potters.org/subject71137.htm
If you ever want to fire functional ware in the future there have been
threads in Clayart archives on how to remediate your kiln.
Best regards,
