Kelly & All,
In another lifetime, I use to cross-stitch and always lost the small
pair of scissors when stitching. I ended up putting a loop of bright
colored ribbon on the handle - very easy to find.
You could drill a tiny hole in the wood tool ends and use bright colored
ribbon, floss or yarn. Good Luck!

Kelly,
When I went for my MFA I had my own studio, but still others would come
into my space and take some of my tools. Then you have to go around and
find out who took them, looking at eveyone to find yours. I finally put
a lock on my studio to keep others out, bugged me that I had to do that.
I know it's hard to put bright colors on your tools, but if you want to
keep an eye on them I would suggest painting the handles with a
florescent color, then at a glance you will be able to find yours
without close inspection of every tool in the studio.

Kelly:
Back in the years before time, when I still worked as a youngster in a
factory maintenance department, we had to have our own tools. =
Diligently
saving and scrimping, I bought the best tools, one at a time, only to =
have
them "disappear like magic" from my toolbox. On my paycheck, with a new =
wife
and baby, that got costly quickly.
So I spray painted them all "hot pink".
No uber-macho coworker would touch them after that. "I ain't gonna use =
no
sissy pink tool"
Worked for me. =20
So what IS the "color-one-must-avoid-at-all-costs-to-save-face" these =
days?
Best,
