ivy, how many firings are on the coils?
as coils age, the specs can run true, but
they fire cool. they may pass ohms, but
not heat.
that is just my guess.
if it was my kiln, i would replace
the elements...all of them,
if there is over 90 firings and it is not firing hot enough.

I don't know much about the kiln, since I bought it used. All I know
is that it was well-used, but only for low-fire, before I got my hands
on it.

I happen to have some super low-fire cones left over from the previous
owner, so... I fired it up this afternoon and ran a test fire to cone
018 with only shelves & cones in the kiln. It was done fast and the
cones indicate that it fired pretty evenly. So I am further befuddled.
I'd replace the elements just on speculation if my pockets weren't so
empty. I guess I'll wait-n-see what happens when I bisque fire next
week.

Thanks,
Ivy
