first studio tour

In September I will be a stop on the artist studio tour in my area. It's =
on a Saturday afternoon from 12:00 to 5:00 in late September.=20

Last year was the first time this tour was offered and there were about =
15 stops with some artist sharing space. I was told some artists had =
about 40 people visit. Most of the artists were painters, but one did =
work in clay using molds.

Thought I would ask for any advice or suggestions on how or what I =
should do to make it successful. I do need to set up the garage into a =
"studio" instead of a corner here and there around all the other usual =
garage stuff the way it is now.

This is northeast and east of Dallas,TX. Any thoughts or suggestions =
would be appreciated.

Bert,
If the weather is nice you could set up outside.
If you have a tent set up a display in there and have
your wheel and accessories outside too.
Place items around your garden (assuming you have one).
on your porch etc but if that doesn't work for you well.....
this is a good excuse to address your garage/studio issues
and truly turn it into a studio.
In archives there have been many threads on setting up
a studio if you need guidance. Plus many great books
some of them by Clayart gurus like Vince Pitelka.

Hey Bert,

Last year I was involved in a first time Studio Tour and I invited 6
potters to show and sell their work. Everyone did great for the two day
trail. We were the only potters so it was nice for the customers to
visit a "mini fair."

Each person setup their own space and took care of their own sales.

We served punch and cookies. We put out marketing materials of upcoming
shows. We used the garage, driveway, lawn and patio area to display.

Good luck.
