saving a torn fingernail.

I have searched for years for a way to fix a torn fingernail. I mean the
kind where you catch a ragged edge and it rips into the quick and it is
impossible to trim it. Band-Aids or tape come loose in the throwing water or just wear
away. Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails with her little fiber cover-ups don't
last very long.

I have found "Fing'rs" Brush-On Nail Glue. It is meant to glue on artificial
nails or to repair natural nails. I think it is probably something like
super glue. The ingredient is ethyl cyanoacrylate.

To fix a torn nail you simply brush a small bit of the glue between the
ripped parts and hold it in place (with a toothpick or such) for 5 seconds. Then
brush a coat or two over the top of that part of the nail. Dries very hard
and lasts up to 10 days.
Long enough for the nail to grow out or you can apply another coat.

I found it at Safeway but I bet you could get it at Walmart too.

Where the pug and the potter are sitting in front of a fan. We're not used
to this 100 degree, 60 degree humidity. Kudos to all you potters who live in
torrid climates.
I don't think I could do it. It is a good thing our extreme weather never
lasts very long.

Clayart is simply maaaaarvelous! Not only do we have remedies for all our
clay and glaze problems, but Clayarters also share other very pertinent remedies
and fixes. Torn fingernails have plagued me from time to time, so thank you,
Ellen, for sharing your find with us.
