I'm enjoying the Rule of 3 Teaching thread as I've always
been fascinated with the study of how we learn.

I'd like to add the Rule of 2: See it and sing it

After teaching lots of kids with learning disabilities,
I discovered the best way to teach something is to show
it visually. The majority of people are visual learners
Thus the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words."
If I could demonstrate, draw, graph, chart, photograph etc.
they remembered it much better and could use it much easier.
Then put it to song, and they would never forget!

I learned more from "watching" my first ceramics professor
throw on the wheel than any words he used to explain it.

So when I teach kids on the wheel, while they watch me throw,
we make up a song about the steps to help remember them.

Later, I hear the adults on the wheel humming that tune!
