Hay Crew,

Still haven't got myself on the road to go see Mom yet. She got home and
I think now we have her convinced to move near my daughter closer to more
family than moving up here near just me. That's fine with me. I'm just
getting antsy to get down and help pack. And there is that 20' extention
ladder I put me name on I need to do a tree for a lady in town. Got the
trailer cleaned and hooked up then slept all day and now we have rain. I
need a vacation and I think I'm gonna just call in a few more days and be
back the end of next week. Wally*World's lawn and garden can survive
without me. We got a new kid who all of a sudden seems to be catching on
to what needs to be done. Started out with his hands in his pockets a
lot, look at work, wondered away; then the other day he follows me to the
service desk to watch me help a customer with an exchange, did some
sweeping and left an obvious cutoff point, finished up my sweep when I
went to coffee and it looked good as if I had done it all. So I'm gonna
take off a while and get some video of my Mom's adventures selling '78rpm
records in Detroit in the late '30's. Maybe get her to talk about Art and
her paintings, or her time as a single parent in the '50's before there
was such a term.

Oh, ya, "Art For All (part 5), vanity prevails again. I threw the
leftover lump into a larger pot and at the end try a rough "Dragon Pot".
The camera stoped on it's own. This was Alex's wheel and my setup is a
bit different. Notice the use of my hand to adjust wheel speed most of
the time. Normally the foot peddle is placed on the right corner of the
wheel table for easy access to a finger tap. I don't like the leg tension
in using a foot and it disturbs my stance. It has been a while since
being in the groove so I may have dipped water more because the guys
watching were expecting it, usually most of my throwing lubracant is
slurry from throwing. On a good day I can flick a line down the inside of
a cylinder in a couple places, some on the outside, and never have to
spunge excess water out later. I guess ya call that almost dry throwing.
Cutting the scrap off the bottom got exciting cause I'm not inclined to
keep the pan around the wheel head. I think when I get back to it I'm
using that metal rib to remove throwing lines on the "Dharma Pots" so the
insizing will not compete with the throwing lines. There is an
interesting compliment about who's work it looks like but it makes me
wonder if I've developed my own style yet. I guess they gotta look like
somebody elses to start and then we add our signature features. Like the
folded flower pot rim I copied from Cardew's book and of course the
Dragon. Something I noticed when I clicked replay is it opened to my
YouTube site so don't be supprised. Looks like I'm in need of an upgrade
in equipment and a faster connection to make this easier but it's good
for now. This opens in full screen and is a bit pixelated but can be
navigated back to a smaller size. Enjoy and stay in there!
