Dear ClayArters
For those of you who feel comfortable with the unity formula. I found today
this interesting thesis work by Juan Felipe Mejia.
http://dspace.sunyconnect.suny.edu/bitstream/1951/25953/1/Mejia2004.pdf
It is about cone 9 transparent and opaque once fired glossy glazes.
I couldn't find any other alfred university theses papers on the net.
Even not those that were mentioned at the reference of this specific paper.
Are these theses usually published for free download (for education and
personal research of course)

I believe the University of Michigan maintains an on-lone archive of nearly all PhD theses (from everywhere). I do not remember the address, but you should be able to get it by googling or going to the university site.
John Connolly in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, where the humidity is almost overpowering.
