I went to Google to look for Tom Wirt's Website. Could find his work =
only
on other gallery sites, none under his name. It would have been a good =
idea
if you had his URL Link on the site connected with building of the pizza
oven????? =20

Or does he own the Coyote Gallery where I saw most of his work? =20

From Mel.......
"tom wirt just sent me a note with some clear
evidence that his site is making him money.
nothing could please me more."

Thanks for any information.

Here it is:

http://claycoyote.com/

It's funny how people make the most basic booboos when planning a
site, like not putting their name anywhere on it...OOPS!
That web designer oughta be slapped up side the head....

Bonnie...

I just plugged in "Tom Wirt Pottery" and the first listing was Clay Coyote
Gallery which, if you read the home page you see that Tom and Betsy are the
potters. Click on the pottery page and you get the Clay Coyote
Pottery.....click on Gallery and you get our gallery featuring some 160
other artists. Almost all of my posts are signed with the following sig.

Thanks,

Hi Tom,

I hope you don't want it to be hard to find your own pottery web
site. ;- ) Just add your own names to the home page text, page title
and keywords and Google will be able to find your pottery web site.....

Many people (ahem) use a new email to reply to a thread, and that
means no previous text. So you were mentioned on Clayart but your web
site url was not provided.
I googled "Tom Wirt" and your gallery web site was on page 2 of the
google listings. It wasn't so hard to find your pottery web site, but
good web design should provide you with a Google listing close to the
top.

A QUESTION: I heard that Google hones it's searches based on your
previous searches. This would mean that 2 different people would get
a different set of search results. This hasn't made sense to me and
I've tried searches on 2 different computers that yielded identical
results. Anyone know if this is a web legend rather than fact?

I just replied to an offline note from Bonnie S....we aren't particularly
worried about having our names on our website...although I may do it anyway.
Old customers search for only by the Pottery name , Clay coyote, the others
that find us have searched for a particular item, or handmade pottery or
some such. With the crowded web these days, you MUST optimize your site
language to the way people search, if you are planning to make part of your
living off your site.

Our site statistics give us all the words people have searched for in
finding us. Over 1-1/2 years I've never had someone reach us by name.
Except for Clayart, how would they know our names? We're not a Big Dog like
Clennell or the Mayor.

We started the site as a convenience/catalog for current customers, all of
whom know us as Clay Coyote (in case you're wondering, people do not very
often remember you by name unless it's unique-old marketing rule of thumb).
Then sales started picking up a bit in 2002-that was when women decided they
didn't need the old man's permission or "expertise" to run the computer. In
2004 we bit the bullet and went shopping cart...doubled sales. I make my
living at making pots. I don't have time to learn to write HTML or use web
software to do the page formatting. I'm far, FAR better off making pots.
I'd love to do it for the sake of knowing, but if I do, I'm losing my butt
economically. With the cart we're using, we can now change product on the
fly. We have a photo setup that lets us shoot a piece and have it on the
web in minutes, which we use for the Gallery (you can buy Tony & Sheila's
pots there) but not for our work. Too many different items and glazes.

So, thanks for the notes...we do listen and change.
