Has anyone out there converted their old electric kiln to fire with
gas?...Summit Conversion Kit kind of thing?
I am wondering if it is a worthwhile investment or not. The few previous
posts that I came across focused on the cons...any positives?
thanks

I did a conversion for one of my students some time back using the Summit
conversion kit.
It was easy to do, but I wasn't very impressed with the gas train. Pipe
burners with no primary air adjustments.
The positive is if you have an old electric to convert, well then, you have
the kiln.
You might want to give Marc Ward a call. You'll need to provide him with
kiln size, temperature you want to fire to and fuel source. He'll give you
some recommendations and provide you with a quality product.
I got my burners, pilot & thermocouple from him to renovate an Olympic gas
fired kiln, and all works great.

Indeed, yes. There must be a zillion posts in the
clayart archives on this subject. Take a look, there are
a lot of good ideas.
