This always is a problem. Wedging tables should be built for the taller
person. Us short ones should build and have "wedging platforms" that also
can be used when one is stacking a top loading kiln.
I make my platforms out of 3 18" pieces of 2x4 topped with square piece of
3/4 inch outdoor plywood. Then the 2x4 are used flat. For greater height,
get 4 pieces of 2x4 and stand them up before attaching to board. So then you
are "uplifted" about 4 inches.
Use outdoor type glue as well as screws.
Depending on the studio situation a proper wedging platform can be attached
to each of three sides of the table...That means side A is for the tallest,
(6') side B for the next tallest (5'10" or so) and so around the table.
If I sound like a lunatic it is that I know for a cold fact that bad wedging
table height is a back, neck, shoulder and wrist wrecker.
