venco -new wheel technology

I have just been given a new Venco wheel to take for a test drive for a
couple of weeks. this is a very sexy wheel that I don't think is available
in North America yet. I have always thought highly of the Aussie Venco
pugmill so I was anxious for this wheel. Firstly it is all stainless with a
sexy aqua turquiose stainless steel large splash pan that goes with our
couch. Very important! The splash pan also has a cleanout trough at the side
where a bucket can be placed to clean out muck and trimmings. The wheel is
quite light and I could easily carry it myself. It is direct drive with no
belts to worry about. Now here's the new technology. The footpedal is
cordless. It is powered by 2 standard "c" batteries. you can operate the
wheel from another room. that could be fun to scare the hell outta Sheila on
a boring day. The foot pedal can operate 10 wheels similtaneously. That
could be fun teaching students. You teach and control the power. Always nice
to have all the power.
It is 3/4 horse and today I will give it a test drive. I have some
reservations like how long will the batteries in the footpedal last a
working potter. I'll let ya know. I think they are concentrating on Europe
at this time but after Pottery Supply House in Oakville gets some feedback
from potters they will make necessary changes for this side of the puddle
and decide whether they will be in their new wheel lineup.
I have no idea about price. If I like it I'll keep you posted and let ya
know what PSH are going to do.
Best,
Tony

I haven't been checking the internet news this past week. Has Canada been removed from North America? I know I often have trouble remembering the Mexico is a part of North America, and get caught refering to myself as a "norteamericano" as if Mexicans are not.

A piece like that is only broadcasting a signal to the
wheel, which is a reciever. So the batteries should
last for a very long time.

Tony.
From the UK to America is "over the pond". You say OZ is "over the
puddle". What are you trying to tell us?
I've had excellent service from Venco products. I still use my original
wheel, well over 25 years now. Had to replace the elec motor once.
My standard Venco pugmill, just as old, still works well. Replaced belts
once, and also had to replace the barrel once, as the salts from my clay
ate through the wall. Taught me to clean the mill out if it wasn't going
to be used for a long period of time.
Cheers. Graeme.

Oh my, I can see it now. The engineering department now has a new model for
a dual control system out of whack. The old model, of a couple in bed on a
cold winter's night with an electric blanket, but the control units are on
the wrong side of the bed. She's cold, and dials hers up, which causes his
side of the bed to warm up, so he reaches over to dial his down, which
causes her to dial hers up, which causes...

Now we will have dueling dual foot pedals. They got mixed up when mopping
the floor. He spins his up to center another lump of clay just as she spins
hers down for a careful trimming of a delicate footring... After that, even
having the electric blanket controls on the proper side isn't going to
improve the temperature in that bed...
