Hi Edouard,

Thanx for this - by the sound of it not a major hazard but don't
eat or drink the stuff. One of the things that has puzzled me about
the general comments made in respect of lithium in the glaze books is
just that - a very general comment that they are poisonous. Further,
the feldspathoids are considered non-toxic but they are often
mentioned just after the toxicity reference made to lithium compounds
in general, but with little or nothing by way of clarification. I
realise that a feldspar is not a compound or not one alone, but
presumably the lithium in spods and such is combined chemically
somehow, perhaps in a form which cannot be readily absorbed into the
body. Do you know ?

So in respect of lithium oxide is there anything of note to be said
regarding its toxicity ?

Thanx
D

David,

all I have concerning lithium compounds was in the
text sent.

I do use lithium carbonate in the some of the
glazes I use,
because a large amount was given to me by a friend
who
closed his shop.

I am not afraid of using the material.
