Just now in recalculating a glaze under discussion I used two frits to
replace GB. The 2 frit idea --which to my astonishment one rarely sees in
recipes, comes originally from the wonderful Tom Buck. 11 March 1996, after
I had asked Clayart what to do since
Frit 31911 no longer was around, W15 was gone, and I had trouble finding
F34, Tom suggested combination of 68.5% FF3134 with 31.5% FF3185. June
Perry suggested that FF3278 was a "reasonable substitute" (Tom's words)
One of my winter projects --Deo volens--is to make a wet blend of the 3134
and 3185, mix it very very well, dry it, and then use it instead of GB.
Might save lots of time.
The above info came out of a looseleaf binder in which I keep ClayArt
messages I expect to find useful later on. I doubt I would have found that
info in the Archives without spending a lot of time...
