I just read your post and started giggling and couldn't quit. Still
grinning like an idiot. I am so tickled for you!

I'm learning that 60 hours of credit is a lot -- twice what an MA
requires - but I'd hope an old dog like you should get a few credits for
"time served".

I found it a bit of a shock, at first, to be back "in the system" --
paperwork and application forms, parking passes and standing in line
with kids half your age. But you already know from your students that
those kids have some fire, and keep raising the bar.

Anyway, color me thrilled. I can't wait to follow along with your
stories. You should start a blog too ;0)

And I think we'll manage to stay married, don't you? My best friend in
high school dated a college freshman, and they made an art form out of
love letters. When they got together on the weekends, there was no time
for anything but romance.

Last week, I said goodnight to Jeff on Sunday night, and since he leaves
early, I didn't see him again until late night Tuesday. Then he left
before dawn to fly to Montana for a conference. We'll pick him up at the
airport next Monday, kiss hello/goodbye, then he'll drive the kids home,
and I'll head to EMU for another two day clay binge and Diana's guest
room bed. It's not every prof who lets you leave a toothbrush in her
bathroom (or your kids in her den!) (Patrick bunks at Diana's, too, so
it's all clay, all the time.)

And it's not every husband who is willing to sleep alone once in a while
so his wife can chase her dreams.

I have to say, they all seem to appreciate me when I get home. And I
have just enough mommy guilt to make sure we play games, do crafts, cook
together and otherwise reconnect before I head out to the studio for
more "homework". I make sure to show Jeff some gratitude as well ;0) so
pretty much everybody's happy around here so far.

At least until sleep deprivation catches up with me, or I run out of
caffeine...

Anyway, keep us posted, OK?

Wait 'til you show up and crank out some of your best pots... and they
say, "OK, now don't make those anymore."

Me, I couldn't throw to save my life when I sat in there with all those
young grad students. Performance anxiety, I suppose. I guess I got my
confidence back thursday, teaching my guild class, and have been
throwing ever since. I'm still the smartest potter in my own back yard
studio.

I took a break today between projects and Connor and I made aprons --
his for cooking, mine for throwing. I am finding I have to go from clay
studio to classes, and can't stop to change clothes -- so I'm looking to
avoid chunks of clay falling off my jeans in seminar.

Anyway, you rock, TC. Sheila too. I saved the letter Jeff emailed me
from work, telling me I needed to go for it, and it was my turn, and
we'd make it work somehow... (only it was much more eloquent than that.)
Yours,
Kelly in Ohio.. thinking it's contagious... Marta's got symptoms, I
think, plus she's off to travel abroad and tour the world's great
museums with Russel Fouts...
