attaching parts to dry or bisqued ware

Hello,

First I would always like to have a thank you note at my posts because I
don't think I thank people enough for all the help that goes around in
clayart.
Once more I come for advice, as I researched clayart and came out with a lot
of answers and questions thereoff.
Is there a reason (or disavantage) not to attach pieces to already bone dry
or bisqued functional ware (which will not shrink) instead of soft clay?
If I attach handles to a bone dry cassarole, will it be weaker than if I
did it while soft?
Off all the recipes around (peggy's spooze, paper clay, Lana's Magic water,
sodium silicate, etc) which one the glaze/clay experts would recommend as
stronger for functional ware? In addition, is there a preference of recipe
according to stage of dryness or if it is bisqued?
Thank you SO much for your inputs as I know this is an old discussion, and
cracks are a persistent problem in pottery.
