Some time back I wrote Clayart pleading for help to overcome the
extreme pinholing I was experiencing. I want to make a public thank
you to all who offered help. I have FINALLY emptied a kiln full of
pots with nary a pinhole! Three cheers. But it was not an easy
solution and I employed several suggestions. Robert Kandler suggested
a hold at 1600 F on the way up to get rid of any remaining
combustibles-which I am doing. That helped but did not eliminate the
pinholes entirely. Then Ron Roy suggested that I was OVERFIRING my
clay. That was a surprise because I was on the track of underfiring.
But when I lowered the firing to a cone 5 I came out without pinholes.
So I am a happy camper.=20

"Thank You" to all who offered help! Clayart is the Greatest!
