I wonder if you are letting the coats dry until there is no sheen before applying the next coat? I have found that if you brush over wet spots, you will pull off the underlying coats. This does not mean the terra sig shoud be completely dry, just not the shiny wet look it has right after applying or as I said, with no sheen.
We mix up a large batch of Vince's recipe and are able to dip our pots, which I prefer as I think the coverage is better and I need less coats. You have to hold the pot upside down longer to avoid drips running down the sides with this method, but I like the coatings better. We do alot of saggar work, so mixing up 5 gallon batches works great for us. This lasts us about a year.

Could it also be that you are getting some oil from your hands onto the
pots? I have found that you should touch them as little as possible when
handling them. I wash my hands prior to working with them and am using a
banding wheel to apply the sig so I touch that not the pot.

Hi Vicki,
I don't think it was from oil. I was doing them in
all together. My hands were pretty clean. When I pick
them up I usually stick my hand inside to move them.
I also used a banding wheel.
Paul did say the terra sig I was using was inferior to
Vince's formula and that it had happened to other people
using it.
It was disappointing as several of the pieces are beautiful...
So I get to keep them!... Not a bad thing!
