manganese in drinking water

On the news this morning, one of KC's communities has pink drinking water,
about as pink as pink lemonade. They had a photo sent in from a viewer, and
it definitely was pink. During purification at the waterworks, manganese was
accidentally dumped in. The water works is telling folks to not worry, it is
drinkable, no problem, and the pink color will go away if they let the taps
run.
Yikes, not for me!
Pam, in cooler KC, glad the pink water is in another part of town, and that
I did my fish tank maintenance yesterday. I am not at all sure the tap water
conditioner I use in the fish tanks could handle manganese, and I doubt the
fish would like it either!
