first of all, thanks to everyone for helping me try to fix our kiln problems.
second, can someone, please, offer classes in kiln repair? kiln construction??
i have friends in the fashion industry, for example, and when they were in
school they were required to take courses on how their sewing machines and
irons worked. and i mean taking them apart and learning to fix them and
putting them back together. because you can't finish a dress in the middle
of the night if your machine conks out.
it's just a thought, but it would make life easier for all of us clay people.

We will have a kiln repair session in the Clayart room at
NCECA. What would you like me to include?
I am planning on bringing disassembled parts such as a relay
and infinite control switch. I think half the battle in
repairing a kiln is being able to identify the parts. Once
the inside of a switch box looks familiar, the fear of the
unknown goes away.
