One of the best workshop hints:
cut up serrated ribs into the sizes you find most desirable for your work....they come in one big 'kidney' size, but that may not fit into your pot/concept.
This has really been helpful for me. Make tools work the way YOU want them to.

How about that old standby... the old toothbrush setting in water =0D
and gently brushed on the surfaces that are to be joined? =0D
So far, no seams have failed.=0D

That is what I use. I used to use the serrated rib but a guy who does slab
constructed raku objects said that he didn't see any reason to create little
voids at the joins. I was pondering the reason that slip helps join the
pieces together and came up with this idea. The slip is wetter than the
surrounding clay. When the piece is pulling moisture from the slip it is
also pulling some of the clay particles from the slip along with it. I could
be totally off base with this but I figured that I would throw it out there.
