Is there an index of marks potters from Japan used? I have two pots,
one a gift, and another I just bought at Sally-Ann for $1. I was
wondering what the chances are that I can id the makers.

So, is there an online reference, or maybe an expert, or a book I can
order?

Thanks.

Mark.

There is also the Gotheborg site for older Japanese pottery marks:

Hi Mark,

These links are from Robert Yellin's Japanese Pottery Information Center at
his e-Yakimono.net site.

He writes: "There are whole books devoted to kamajirushi for individual
potters such as Kogei Shuppan's Gendai no Tougei East and West and others
showing the thousands of marks which have been used throughout the
centuries[...]."

There will be many marks that are not included here, of course.

Mark,

Can you put a photo up so we can look at it?
