Hay Crew,
Well we haven't frozen out yet but I'm not goin out there tonight. Too
damp and rainy. At least it only lasts a couple weeks up here. Down below
we had to put up with that crap for 6 weeks on either end of winter. It
will get dry and cold soon. We had a spit of snow and a slight dusting
last week. So I decided to step back and do an inventory before laying
any more brick starting with...

It looks like the firebox foundation is comming out beyond the hill
further than I could invision so back to more rocks and stones and raking
gravel. I think where the large rocks end in front is gonna do. It all
depends on the weather eh Tony? Must be nobody else has tryed to build on
into freezing weather. We have been wondering what effect freezing might
have on the castable and lags we are using. I was talking with my pal
Rowdy who did a lot of construction and he saw brick layers working in
below 32 all the time. When it got below 20 or 25 they added cloride to
the morter to retard freezing while it set up. Apparently above 25 the
morter produced enough heat to set without freezing. I too might shut 'er
down for a while and wait for warmer weather. Besides didn't I say I
needed cold weather to cut greens?
So ya, the wreath thing. I did some practice snipping the other day but
when I called Mary Ann at Danialsons today she wanted me to wait until
next week or so for it to get colder and set the needles so they won't
fall off. I guess that's why Wayne and Gails lasted so long, as long as
ya don't put it on a South side behind the storm door. Anyway, if ya
wanna take a walk in the woods with me and see snipping 101 here is a 5
minute video (it is really loud in the begining from the wind but that
goes away in a bit)...

A few have expressed a desire for a wreath so let me know where they need
to be shipped (the address's) and we can figure out shipping cost. I
haven't decided weather to order boxes from a U.P. company or continue
recycling the boxes from work. I suppose I could do both depending on
what the crew thinks best. Recycled would keep cost down if it is a good
box but Gail said new boxes travel better, and she would know.
A YouTuber asked for more on the kiln so after we took up the first floor
and I raked more gravel up to a new level I put together a 10 minute
short about building the floor. If you're stuck with dialup like me it is
a tedious load but might be worth it if ya can't get to a workshop
nearby.

Back to Wally World tomorrow, the rest of Halloween, and the begining of
Christmas. Did you hear what happened to the Oompaloompa's? They were
bitten by Vampires and now are having Care Bears for supper. Happw
Halloween and stay in there!
