glazeforward report

Because Lori asked:

About 75 people signed up to receive the Glazeforward tiles.
I think there aren't many people firing reduction kilns who
want to move down in temperature.

It might have been a better idea to start with "Kilnforward"
and ship a collapsible catenary kiln form around to build the kiln first.
Actually, I am thinking about that.

The only problem with the Glazeforward project that I am aware of so far
is the speed (rather, lack of speed) at which the tiles are forwarded.
People have been out-of-town, ill, just plain slow, and the tiles
have been delayed in their travels.

I check on the 10 strings every few weeks to see if they are moving,
and joggle people to get them going. The tiles have travelled to all corners of
the country and Canada, even Alaska and Hawaii. So, the seed is planted.
And we have earned a few hundred dollars for K-12 education.

I received the tiles about a month ago. They are truly NICE glazes.
I have plans to mix them and fire a load as soon as TIME allows.
Maybe the first of the year. Must set the time aside to do this.

I would like to give Diana a big THANK YOU. For doing and sharing such a
wonderful project.

Regards
Lois

Diana, I'm glad for your report; and expect you are correct about people not
wanting to come down from cone 9-10 reduction, however I find the idea perfect
for me at this time, the golden years! ( named, no doubt by a very young
copywriter). I plan to keep it ALL at ^6, faux majolica, oxidation and
gas-electric reduction. Simplify, simplify, simplify. With a gas -electric kiln I can
keep the carrot in front of my nose and do it all!
