i am getting ready to place a large order from Larkin for silicon carbide
kiln shelves. From what little i have heard so far these are good shelves,
but i have also heard there are a lot of poor quality shelves coming from
china as well. The person i spoke with at Larkin said they will warranty
them but before i order 24 of them i will speak with the owner of the
company about this so if they crack early on i won't be stuck.
It does seem reasonable to think you can get good shelves from China, after
all they have been making kiln shelves for a long time. And there is just
no comparison as far as cost effectiveness goes between importing them from
England vs. importing them from China.
Before i make the investment can anyone share their good or bad experiences
they have had with these or other shelves from China?
thanks,
Paul

I got silicon carb shelves from Larkin and have used them for about 14
firings. Cone 10-11 reduction. Did not know they were Chinese???

They are heavier than I expected, but I can lift them with out
problems....so far my back is OK.....knock wood.....

I did not like the alumina hydrate wash they put on.

But they have held up so far, minimal slumping on 2 in the back of the kiln,
that I need to flip.

For the price, I am happy with them
