transparent purple cone 6

Just a quick note to thank all who gave me suggestions. I have some tests mixed up and am waiting for enough other work to make a kiln load to fire them. I will report back on my results. I am also testing some recipes from Van Gilder's DIY website, plus the reformulated Nutmeg.

I do have one question. Ron mentioned in his post to try removing some clay (EPK) to make the glaze more transparent and glossy. If there is Tin Oxide in the glaze, won't that still cloud the glaze?

the transparent purple subject heading goes on, however,

I am responding to the revised Nutmeg tests in said post; The nutmeg
colorants added to M^6G Base One (for bone, spearmint and sienna) make a beautiful
'nutmeg' glaze for me, identical in color and just a tad more satin than the
original Nutmeg Glaze. As my down-Maine Grammy would have said, "...there's
more than one way to skin a cat!"

Hi Lynne,

the tin is there along with the chrome to give chrome/tin red or pink - I
think it will not be the right colour if you leave the tin out.

You are right about tin being an opacifier but in this case you need it -
you can try lowering the amount of tin in a test to see what happens.
